After approval of your LA/TA by MENDELU, you can start processing your visa. We recommend you to start as soon as possible, as the visa process takes quite a long time (about 2 months). In order to apply for a visa, you will need the following:

1. Acceptance Letter - we will issue it immediately after the approval of your LA/TA

2. Accommodation contract - you have to book accommodation in our dormitories as soon as possible (more information about accommodation can be found HERE) and pay for the reservation.

They will then send us your accommodation contract from the dormitories. We will send both documents to you via DHL and you can go to the embassy to process your visa.

For some countries there is a special, faster procedure for student visas known as Fast Track, we will inform you if it is applicable in your case, if so we will apply for your appointment at the embassy. In any case you need to follow the instructions on the embassy web pages. HERE you can find useful information and links concerning visa matters and insurance.

In the meantime, while you are waiting for your visa we kindly ask you to fill in the Grant Agreement (SMS)/Grant Agreement (SMP) form with your personal data and send it to us (, please read the agreement carefully and do not hesitate to ask us if you have any questions. Please pay attention also to the General Conditions and Erasmus Student Charter, they are annexes to the Grant Agreement.

Before your arrival we will ask you to send us confirmation of your travel and health insurance covering the entirety of your stay and to fill in the data for your bank account application.

At the beginning of each semester the International Relations Office together with the European Student Network organise a Welcome Week for incoming students in order to help them find their feet. This event usually takes place the week before teaching begins. Students obtain useful information about their stay, they are shown round the University Campus in Brno and they meet other international students. Welcome Week usually includes a short course of Czech language, all-day trips, a visit to the MENDELU Botanical Garden and Arboretum, etc.

A detailed programme of the Welcome Week will be sent to all participants via e-mail a few days before the beginning. There is also a Facebook event with all the necessary information.

More information about Welcome Week can be found HERE.

You can register by this FORM.

The fee for the whole Welcome Week is 1300 Czech crowns.
